Troop 63 is one of the oldest Boy Scout Troops in the Council with a strong tradition, and rich history in Scouting. Our Troop was founded in 1963 to bring scouting to boys in the Bethany, Orange, and Woodbridge communities. Chartered by Assumption Church, Troop 63 quickly became known as the "outdoor troop". We follow the BSA program of "fun with a purpose". This year marks our 58th anniversary of helping boys reach their full potential.
We meet September through April on Monday nights at 7:00 at Our Lady of the Assumption "Mother" Church on Rt 69 in Woodbridge. From May through June we meet at the same time at our Camp Whiting on Litchfield Turnpike (Rt.69). Stop by and see what we're all about.
The troop has 2-3 activities planned every month. The Scouts often look forward to our trips to Sequassen, Bromley, and our annual freeze-out. We are active all year. Our outings include all types of camping, hiking, backpacking, skiing, cycling, canoeing, and white water rafting, as well as cultural events such as visits to historical parks and museums. We also plan and participate in community service projects each year. For current events, see the current blog, which is updated monthly.
You can join our troop by emailing talebk@msn.com or johnmcg@gwu.edu. You can get more information at https://www.ctyankee.org/districts/quinnipiac or https://www.ctyankee.org/. You can also apply at the BSA official application page, https://filestore.scouting.org/filestore/pdf/524-406.pdf. Annual dues are $200. Almost all Scouts earn this themselves, through participation in the winter Holiday Tree/Wreath sale.
